 Regional President, North America, Pfizer Vaccines

Prior to this role, David was Vaccines Commercial Officer for Pfizer Vaccines global business where he was responsible for global commercial development, commercial operations, business alliances – including the partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

Before joining Pfizer in 2015, David spent seven years at Novartis Vaccines, where he held the position of Head of the North America Region and oversaw a 275-person organization consisting of Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Policy, and Distribution across a portfolio of four vaccine assets in Meningitis and Travel. In this role, David was responsible for the launch of Bexsero®, Novartis’s licensed meningococcal B vaccine. He also led the transition of Novartis Vaccines to GSK as part of the acquisition announced in April of 2014 and completed in March 2015. During the Ebola epidemic, David was selected by the CEO of Novartis to run a unified Ebola task force response and coordinate all activities across several divisions of the company, including internal and external communications, research programs, grant responses, and negotiations with governments and third parties.


Prior to this role, David held positions of increasing responsibility at Novartis Vaccines, including Vice President of US Marketing, Head Medical Countermeasures (Biodefense franchise), and roles in US Sales, Product Market Access and Government Contracts, and Influenza Marketing.


He also worked as a Senior Consultant at Keystone Strategy prior to joining Novartis.


David started his career at Merck in Manufacturing and Finance and at 3M Company in Consumer Product Marketing.


He earned a bachelor of science degree in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University’s College of Engineering, and a master of business administration degree from Harvard Business School.

gilbert sanchez

Partner, Kemp Smith Law

Gilbert L. Sanchez is a partner in the firm's Labor and Employment Department. He is licensed to practice law in Texas and New Mexico. Gilbert is a native of El Paso, Texas and attended the University of Texas at El Paso where he earned his B.A. in Business Finance in 2004, and the University of Wisconsin School of Law where he earned his J.D. in 2007.


Gilbert joined the firm in January 2008. Since that time, Gilbert has successfully represented employers in various types of employment matters including discrimination lawsuits and wage and hour disputes. In addition, Gilbert has represented employers in unfair labor practice and representation hearings before the National Labor Relations Board. Gilbert has successfully obtained summary judgments for clients on various issues both in state and federal court.


Gilbert is a frequent speaker on the topic of employment issues at local employment and human resource seminars in Texas and New Mexico. Mr. Sanchez was selected for inclusion in Texas Rising Stars in 2014 - 2018 by the publisher Thompson Reuters.

William T. (Tommy) Simmons serves as legal counsel for Commissioner Aaron S. Demerson, the employer representative on the Texas Workforce Commission, where he advises the Commissioner on final-level unemployment, tax, and wage claim appeals and discrimination charges, assists business groups with employment-related legislation, and counsels employers on Texas and federal employment laws. He is the author of the book Especially for Texas Employers and is also an editor of the Employment Law Handbook of the Texas Association of Business.

Kevin Lashus

Partner, Fisher Broyles

Mr. Lashus graduated from Stanford University in 1994 and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1998.


Mr. Lashus is a Partner of the Austin office of FisherBroyles LLP. He is also Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  Mr. Lashus has represented management in employment verification compliance investigations, administrative employer sanctions cases, in-bound business immigration, USCIS fraud investigations and other workplace law matters since 2007. 


Before moving to the private sector, Mr. Lashus was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas— defending state-wide law enforcement officers accused of civil rights violations and employment discrimination in federal and state court litigation.  Shortly after September 11, 2001, he moved on to the US Department of Justice, then ultimately, the US Department of Homeland Security where he prosecuted terrorists and advised Special Agents on the execution of worksite investigations and Form I-9 inspections. Mr. Lashus was a member of the National Security Team—enjoying a Top Secret security clearance. 


He has presented at national ABA, AILA, SHRM, and FBA seminars across the country and has contributed written articles concerning immigration enforcement and employment verification law matters. A 2010 peer survey identified him as a Texas Super Lawyer Rising Star in immigration; he was re-designated in 2011 as well. In 2012, the same peer survey identified his as a Texas Super Lawyer in immigration; and, he has been re-designated each year through 2020.  Mr. Lashus frequently addresses supervisors and managers to assist them in developing the immigration and employment verification compliance systems needed to manage effectively in today's challenging legal environment.

Jim Banks

General Counsel for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

Mr. Banks is the General Counsel for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).  As General Counsel, Mr. Banks manages the legal function of SHRM, oversees the work of outside counsel, and serves as key lawyer and legal advisor on major business transactions.  Mr. Banks previously served as the City Attorney for Alexandria, Virginia.


Mr. Banks began the practice of law in Richmond, VA and worked in the private sector in a variety of law firms and in the public sector in a number of capacities, including prosecutor and judge.  Mr. Banks has a broad background in legal ethics.  He served for over ten years in the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary system, including seven years on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board where he served as Chair.  He also served as an instructor in the Virginia State Bar Professionalism Course and has taught frequently on the topic of ethics and professionalism.

With member companies that are leaders in every sector of the economy, ERIC advocates on the federal, state, and local levels for policies that promote flexibility and uniformity in the administration of their employee benefit plans.

 

Annette is a strategic public policy and political counselor with over 30 years of experience involving complex legislative and regulatory matters in the U.S. and abroad. Serving as counsel to Senate Majority Leaders Bob Dole and Trent Lott, Annette advised on key tax and benefits legislation. She began her legal career at the Internal Revenue Service Office of Chief Counsel and later practiced law at the Dewey Ballantine law firm.

 

Annette’s corporate experience is extensive. As a member of the senior executive team at General Motors, she led federal legislative affairs and political and grassroots advocacy at the federal, state, and international levels, and advised the GM Board of Directors on global public policy. Annette was an executive with Honeywell International government affairs, and Executive Vice President, Public Affairs, at the Retail Industry Leaders Association.

 

Annette has a B.B.A. in Finance and a law degree from Hofstra University, as well as a Masters of Law in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. She authored “Employer’s Guide to Fringe Benefits” with Mary B. Hevener and numerous legal and policy articles. Annette speaks regularly on public policy and politics, and the challenges and opportunities facing companies attempting to provide health, retirement, and compensation benefits to workers and families across the country, amidst a maze of federal, state, and local rules and regulations.

Ms. Pincay is a Vice President and Senior Pharmacy Benefits Consultant in Segal’s New York office. On September 1, 2018, she was appointed the National Pharmacy Practice Leader, Clinical Services.


Ms. Pincay has over 20 years of experience in the pharmacy industry, serving in management, clinical and consulting roles. Ms. Pincay is a member of Segal’s National Pharmacy Consulting Practice and assists clients in optimizing benefit design and drug mix. She provides consulting services that incorporate advanced data analytics with the latest best-practice guidelines for clinical pharmacy. She has extensive expertise in pharmacy benefit management (PBM) clinical programs, client management and plan design strategy. She also focuses on assisting a diverse set of clients (including multiemployer, corporate, public sector, and coalitions) with vendor selection and implementation, contract negotiation, formulary management and clinical program development.

Juliana Reed

Juliana Reed is the Vice President, Corporate Affairs, for the Pfizer global Immunology, Inflammation and Biosimilars business.  Ms. Reed has been engaged in global biosimilar policy for over 15 years through her current position as well as her previous work as Vice President of Global Government Affairs for Hospira, Inc. Ms. Reed has direct pre and post approval market experience in multiple countries across at least 9 biosimilars on the market today. She is an internationally recognized expert on biosimilars.

 

In addition to her corporate positions, Ms. Reed has previously served on the board of the Generic Drug Association (GPhA/AAM) in the US, the board of Medicines for Europe, and was a co-founder of the US Biosimilars Forum where she is currently serving as the Forum’s President for the past 6 years. 

Kevin Cartwright

Mr. Cartwright has been with Intelligent Compensation LLC since 2016 and has assisted with a variety of assignments for many different clients around the country.
